So, yes, the writers’ strike is over. And in mere weeks all of our favorite boob tube programs will return. Jim and Pam will be reunited. Liz Lemon will be neurotic as ever. And Betty will, once again, save the day! And if time without our quick fix of quirky characters has taught us anything, it’s that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Here are the six small screen shows we’re looking forward to seeing again.
The Office, NBCReturns on April 10thWe can’t get enough of Micheal’s antics, Jan’s attitude, Jim’s hotness, and Angela’s prissy personality. We’d definitely relocate to Scranton, New York to work with the lovable misfits at Dundler Mifflin, Inc.
30 Rock, NBCReturns on April 10thWith a cast that includes Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, and Tracy Morgan, it’s no wonder we’re pumped for the return of this hilarious hit comedy. And if that’s not a good enough argument, then how about this: Misery loves company any, and we love to watch the always awkward Liz Lemon squirm and stutter under pressure.
Desperate Housewives, ABCReturns on April 13thOh to be with those saucy, naughty, secret-hoarding gals again! (Happy day!) While Desperate may have lost some momentum after its first season, the night-time soap opera is definitely back on track with complex plots, twists, turns, and lots of laughs.
Ugly Betty, ABCReturns on April 24thEveryone loves the underdog. And Betty Suarez is no exception. She may not be the chicest. She may not be the savviest. She may not be the most graceful. But she’s got a heart of gold and a sharp head on her shoulders. We relish watching Betty better the world one magazine at a time. (Oh, and all the sassy sidekick characters – Becki Newton, Vanessa Williams, Judith Light – make an hour fly by.)
Scrubs, NBCReturns on April 10th We’ve watched J.D. evolve from a super-nerdy, accident-prone, relationship-impaired intern to the super-nerdy, accident-prone, somewhat-relationship-impaired doctor he is today. And we still enjoy hearing his random inner monologues, watching his super-freaky fantasies unfold, and rooting him on as he, once again, pursues Dr. Elliot Reid.
Gossip Girl, CWReturns on April 21stOh,
Gossip Girl. Our not-so-secret weekly guilty pleasure. What have we done without you? We’re long out of high school and have (thankfully) survived the torture of being a teenager. But that doesn’t mean we don’t love to watch others suffer – especially when they’re beautiful, rich, prep-school socialites we’re watching! Serena, Dan, Blair, Jenny … you know you love you back. xoxo …
